Facebook is now a significant a part of all our lives. Whether we use it for business or personal entertainment, there are plenty of features that we can benefit from. But like everything in life, Facebook is constantly evolving. Starting as a basic social network where you can meet new and old friends, see their pictures and like their status updates, it is now a sophisticated platform where you can even build an entire business. Knowing everything there is to know about the Facebook features and benefits can give you a significant competitive advantage and help you grow your business.
Here is a list of 5 Facebook features that you didn’t know about, but should.
#1 Facebook’s Author Tags
One of the recently released features by Facebook is the new Author Tag. With this function you can now put your name or profile on Facebook whenever someone shares your blog posts URLs, just like in the picture below:
As you can see, there is a BY EUHERO FILOTEO on the link. If you hover the name, then it will show you the profile or page of that link, where a user can either follow or like the page.
To do this, you only need to put the metadata code shown below, that Facebook has provided, on your website Header.
meta property="article:author" content="https://www.Facebook.com/yourpagelink"
Make sure to test your website link using the Facebook’s Open Graph Object Debugger tool.
I don’t have to explain you what a huge advantage you would have to have your name and a link to your profile next to all your blog posts shared on Facebook. This not only will build your trust and authority, but will increase your fan base thanks to the increased exposure.
#2 Updated Controls For Your News Feed
Next on the list, we will discuss the new controls for your News Feed. Facebook is now giving you options to personalize what you see on your News Feed. This small but powerful feature will give you the ability to choose what page or post from a user you want to see on the top of your News Feed.
To customize your News Feed, just click the drop-down button on your Facebook top menu.
After that, a pop-up box will appear, and it will show you the profiles and page you can Follow, Unfollow or See First.
With the “See First” option, your fans can choose to see your posts on top of everything else on Facebook. But do they know about this feature? How about you let them know?

#4 Ad Revenue With Video Creators
Facebook is serious about competing with Youtube for video content and engagement. They announced recently the Ad Revenue sharing program with large Facebook pages like NBA, Fox Sports, and Funny Or Die. Unlike Facebook, which is a social networking site, Youtube has established and made a name for itself as the largest video sharing website in the world. But now that Facebook is getting it’s hands on ad revenue sharing, we can only see Youtube’s supremacy threaten. Facebook is the largest social network to date, and sharing videos has never been so easy thanks to them.
“A lot of [our partners] have said this will be a big motivation to start publishing a lot more video content to Facebook,” Dan Rose, Facebook’s VP of partnerships, told Re/code about the new revenue model. “That’s exactly what we’re hoping for.”
There’re a lot of things to iron out, though, so we are not expecting a major change or update about Facebook’s ad revenue sharing for videos yet.
#5 Moments: A Private Way to Share Photos With Friends
